Special Day Card with Bobbi

Hi Sunny Studio friends! It’s Bobbi here with CAKE! Every special day deserves cake, in my opinion! I’m using the new Special Day stamps and coordinating dies. I am also using the pretty corners that come in the Notebook Photo Corners dies set on this card.

To make this 5″ X 7″ card, I started with a card base and front panel made from white cardstock. I also cut the four photo corners from the same cardstock. I cut a piece of pink cardstock measuring 4″ square and inked the edges with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Ink. I attached the white photo corners to the edges.

I stamped the 5″ X 7″ front panel using two smaller images from the Special Day set – the rose and candle – to make a patterned black and white background. I added shadowing around the images using a C3 Copic Sketch Marker. I attached the pink square with corners to the front of the pattern.

 

I stamped, cut, and colored the two-tiered cake, the row of candles and rosette with leaves. Isn’t she a pretty one?! I colored the cake, cake stand, decor and flowers using Copics in BG11, G00, R29, R27, R17, R14, R22, R21, YG67, YG23, and YG03. I glued the rosette topper and candles to the top of the cake, added foam tabs to the back of the entire cake and attached it to the pink square. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment from the Special Day set below the cake to finish the card.

Special Day Card with Catherine

Hello Crafty Friends, Catherine here! Today, I am sharing a light up birthday card created with the pretty layered cakes stamps in the new Special Day Stamps set and Pear Blossom E-Z Lights.

To start, I die cut white cardstock with the largest die in Stitched Rectangle Dies. I added a balloon background by creating a stencil using Bright Balloons Dies. I die cut stencil paper with the oval balloon die in the set and ink blended the stencil with Squeezed Lemonade, Spun Sugar, and Dried Marigold Distress Oxides. I splattered the panel with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink mixed with a little bit of water.

Next, I stamped and die cut the panda from Panda Party and the party hat from Purrfect Birthday. I then stamped and die cut the beautiful layered cake and number candles from Special Day Stamps. I colored all the images  with Copic markers listed in my blog link below. I decorated the cake with some “gold leaves” by applying a thin layer of Tombrow glue and gently rubbing strips of deco foil over top. 

I placed the images onto the front panel with removable glue dots. Once all the images were in place, I placed a piece of A2 white cardstock (back panel) underneath the front panel. Next, I used a paper piercer and pierced the candle flames and the pompon on top of the hat making sure that the front panel was pierced all the way through, and a mark was left on the back panel.

I removed the front panel and set it aside. I used a pencil to darken the markings on the back panel. I used double sided tape to adhere the EZ light onto the card. I placed the three lights onto the pencil markings and taped the wires into place. The EZ lights are very easy to use. Each mechanism comes with three lights and a battery. All you need to do is put in the battery, push the button and the lights will switch on.

After I tape down the wires in place, I removed the images from the front panel and adhered the panel onto the back panel with double sided foam tape. I adhered the images back onto the front panel with permanent adhesive. 

I die cut the word “Sweet” from Sweet Word Die out of white cardstock and inked it with Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar DIstress Oxides. I added white heat embossed sentiments from Birthday Cat Stamps and Turtley Awesome Stamps. I finished off the card with a round “push here” button.

Special Day Card with Cathy

Hey friends! Cathy here today sharing a card featuring this gorgeous cake from the Special Day Stamps! I love a peachy orange/lime green color scheme as the weather gets warmer and I think this would make for a perfect summer wedding congrats card.

I started this card by die-cutting a piece of white cardstock using the largest Stitched Rectangles Die. On the top half of the piece, I stamped a small rose from the Everything’s Rosy Stamps multiple times in Versamark ink and heat embossed them with white embossing powder. I then lightly inked over the roses with Lost Shadow Distress ink.

Next, I die-cut a second piece of white cardstock with the same Stitched Rectangle Die, cut it straight across at 2” and inked it in a gradient from light to dark using Dried Marigold Distress ink. I heat embossed the “congrats” sentiment from the Everything’s Rosy Stamps with black embossing powder 1/2" from the bottom of the cardstock.

For a little extra fanciness, I die-cut an Icing Border Die from white cardstock, adhered it at the top of the Dried Marigold piece and trimmed the excess from the right and left edges. I also die-cut 3 tabs from the Notebook Tabs Dies from white cardstock, adhered one centered on the Dried Marigold piece below the Icing Border and adhered the other 2 tabs to each side, trimming the excess from the edges. To cover where the tabs meet, I stamped a flower from the Fabulous Flamingos Stamps twice on white cardstock using Versamark ink and heat embossed them with white embossing powder. I then used a water brush and painted the inside of the flowers using yellow and orange inks. I die-cut the flowers using the coordinating dies and adhered them where the tabs meet. I adhered the Dried Marigold piece to the bottom of the Stitched Rectangle die-cut, matted the piece on silver cardstock and adhered it to an A2 card base.

Next, I inked 2 pieces of white cardstock (one with Twisted Citron Distress ink and one with Mowed Lawn Distress ink) and die-cut leaves using the Spring Greenery Dies. I adhered these above the Dried Marigold piece. To keep a light and airy feel to the card, I stamped the cake from the Special Day Stamps in light gray ink on Neenah Classic Crest 80lb solar white cardstock, colored it with Copics and die-cut it using the coordinating dies. To make the cake stand out a bit more and balance the black sentiment, I die-cut a piece of black cardstock with the coordinating cake die, cut the top portion of the cake off leaving just the cake stand portion and adhered the colored cake slightly overlapping the black die-cut. I then adhered the cake over the leaves with foam tape.

On the inside of the card, I heat embossed the sentiment from the Special Day Stamps with black embossing powder on white cardstock and die-cut it using a label die from the Sliding Window Dies. I then inked the die-cut with Dried Marigold Distress ink. I stamped a rose from the Special Day Stamps in light gray ink, colored it with Copics and die-cut it using the coordinating dies.

Sneak Peek: Introducing Special Day Stamps with Summer Release Video

Hello and welcome to the final day of our Sneak Peek Week!  In case you are just joining us, each day this week I have been showcasing projects using our newest Summer collection which is now available to purchase in our store. Before you run off to shop though, I hope you will join me for a closer look at one last new product that I'm super excited for!

Card No. 1: I'd like to think I saved the best for last. Today I'm featuring one last new 4x6 stamp set called Special Day. This set includes two different adorable multi-layered cakes, numbered candles, cake toppers, and a fabulously versatile "Happy Birthday" greeting that I have fallen in love with!

For this card, I started by inking my A2-sized card panel with Salty Ocean Distress ink, fading it out towards the top of my panel, and splattering it with water to give my background a speckled appearance. I then added three of our new Crepe Paper Streamers along the top of my card which I cut out from white cardstock and colored with my Copic Markers to match my rainbow ombre cake. I added the "4" and "0" numbered candles to the top of my cake to celebrate my sister's 40th birthday. For my greeting, I used the oversized "happy birthday" phrase from our Big Bold Greetings Stamps and added the phrase "to the best" from our Teacher Appreciation Stamps and the word "sister" from both our Tea-riffic Stamps and Outback Critters Stamps.

Card No. 2: For this card featuring the Special Day Stamps I created a wedding card. I love how these cute cakes can be used for so many different occasions, including weddings, anniversaries and holidays like Valentine's Day! I started by adhering a pink quilted heart print to my card base using a patterned paper from our Flirty Flowers Paper pack and then added the Frilly Frames Eyelet Lace scalloped mat over the top. 

Detail View: The cake and die did most of the heavy lifting for me so I was able to keep the rest of my card fairly simple, just cutting a sentiment strip using the stitched edge dies from our Ribbon & Lace Border Dies and heat embossing my "best wishes" sentiment using our Everyday Greetings Stamps with Hero Arts Brass Embossing Powder.

Card No. 3: Next up, I have an anniversary card pairing the heart three-tier cake & cake topper from our new Special Day Stamps. I started by repeatedly cutting our loopy heart border from teal cardstock using our Heartstring Border Dies which I mounted onto a solid sheet of cardstock in the same color for a textured, tone-on-tone look that almost gives the appearance of being embossed. I then mounted my cake pieces using foam tape and added a curved banner overhead from our Banner Basics Stamps and heat embossed by anniversary sentiment using a greeting from our Happy Thoughts Stamps. It was feeling like missing a little something so I completed my card by adding the scalloped eyelet lace border from our Ribbon & Lace Border Dies.

Card No. 4: For this card using the floral cake from the Special Day Stamps, I colored my cake a mint green color with pink peonies, adding both the flower to the top, along with the set of 5 birthday candles. I heat-embossed my greeting from the stamp set onto a piece of coordinating mint cardstock, inking up the bottom portion to match my coloring and shading for the cake and then die-cutting the ends with our Fishtail Banner Dies. For my tone-on-tone pink background, I die-cut a scalloped mat, combining the pieces from our Frilly Frames Polka-dot Dies and our Frilly Frames Lattice Dies. I then framed my cake using our Scalloped Oval Mat 2 Dies.

Card No. 5: For this card, I colored my heart cake from the Special Day Stamps with chocolate frosting and hot pink accents using Copic Markers. I added the birthday candles to the top and inked behind them using a little Distress Ink to give the appearance of them glowing. I kept the rest of my card very simple. Before adhering my cake to my card panel, I cut out the phrase "you take the cake" using our Chloe Alphabet Dies and filled the negative space hind the letters using a hot pink dotted print from our Polka-Dot Parade Paper pack. Lastly, I added a thin strip of pink striped paper from our Striped Silly Paper pack along the bottom of my card.

Card No. 6: For my last card of the day I combined the numbered birthday candles from the Special Day Stamps with our layered Scrumptious Cupcakes Stamps, stacking a number of frostings in different colors. I wanted my background to match my cupcake so I ended up inking up by background by blending PinkFresh Studio Dye Inks to match. I sometimes forget that I can blend any dye inks to create inky backgrounds and I love the way these inks blended together--It really expands my options in terms of color palettes and they created a gorgeous pastel rainbow! I added a white stitched panel to the center of my card to frame my tall cupcake using our Slimline Scalloped Frame Dies and then die-cut 6 Crepe Paper Streamers from white cardstock and inked them up to match the background.
