Bright Balloons Card with Tina

Hello crafty friends, it’s Tina and today I am featuring the super fun Bright Balloons dies. This set is perfect for lots of occasions, and by keeping the sentiment festive but neutral it’s a versatile card! Although I am a little bit of a hoarder of pretty craft papers, I do have (as many of us!) a large pile of scraps too! These balloon dies are perfect for using up small colorful pieces.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Bright Balloons Birthday Card by Tina Henkens (featuring Frilly Frame Dies, Panda Party, Happy Thoughts)

I love going through my paper pads mixing and matching patterns. All four balloon shapes were cut using scraps from Gingham Pastels, Dots & Stripes Pastels, and yes … even two Christmas pads (All Is Bright, Joyful Holiday)!

My goal is to keep cards relatively flat for mailing purposes. But today, I went all out with foam tape for lots of dimension in this circle tunnel design!

The card panel is a pretty blue paper from Dots & Stripes Pastels cut with the outside border Frilly Frames Stripes Die. I selected three circles from an infinity die set and used the largest one for this panel. I repeated this step with a smaller circle die and a white panel, finally I cut the third circle from a pink paper. Next, I dry embossed a white piece of Neenah paper with the Woodgrain Embossing Folder.

Of course I needed a cute critter to hold the big pile of balloons, I went with an adorable bear from Panda Party. All the coloring was done with Copic Markers. I stamped a combined sentiment from Happy Thoughts onto a small white banner with Versafine Onyx Black ink.

Finally, I folded a white card base and adhered all my layering panels using foam tape where needed. I placed the sentiment on the bottom of the blue card panel and added my panda with the party hat. To assemble the balloon cluster, I used some Press ‘n Seal and temporary adhesive so I could easily adjust. I opted to just add one string to the balloons because ten was a bit much! A few Chrystal Clear Jewels were all the embellishment this card needed.

I hope you will enjoy creating sweet balloon cards with this cute set too! Thank you for joining me and happy crafting!

Scrumptious Cupcakes Card with Catherine

Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Catherine! Today, I’m sharing a yummy cupcake card created with Scrumptious Cupcake Stamps! The cupcakes created with this layered stamp set look good enough to eat!

Sunny Studio Stamps: Scrumptious Cupcakes Birthday Card by Catherine Cohen (featuring Frilly Frame Dies, Beach Buddies, Happy Thoughts, Sweet Word Die)

To start, I die cut white cardstock with Frilly Frames Polka Dot. I ink blended the panel with Twisted Citron, Spun Sugar, and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxides.

Next, I die cut the cupcake liners, frosting, and cherries with white cardstock. I kept the negative to use as I guide for stamping. I used the following inks and stamped the liners, cherries, and frosting according to the numerical order listed in the set.

Yellows: Altenew Buttercream, Citrus Burst, Mango Smoothie
Blues: Altenew Blueberry, Iceberg, Hero Arts Soft Sky
Greens: Altenew Mint Choc, Mountain Mist, Sweet Leaf
Pinks: Altenew Frosty Pink, Blush, Pink Diamond

Cupcake: Catherine Pooler Buttercream
Cherries: Catherine Pooler Do Si Do, Coral Cabanna, Samba, Altenew Grass Field

Sunny Studio Stamps: Scrumptious Cupcakes Birthday Card by Catherine Cohen (featuring Frilly Frame Dies, Beach Buddies, Happy Thoughts, Sweet Word Die)

I added a critter from Beach Buddies and colored with Copic Markers; T2, T1, C00. I stamped the “wishing you a” sentiment from Happy Thoughts onto the top left corner of the panel and “birthday” onto the bottom right corner of the panel.

I die cut Sweet Word Die out of white cardstock and ink blended with Spun Sugar and Festive Berries Distress Oxides. I added some highlights with a white gel pen. I thought it would be fun  to add some Ice Cream Party Sprinkles. I adhered the images onto the background with foam tape. I finished off the card by adding a white A2 sized background and some clear enamel dots.

Thanks so much for joining me today! Have a wonderful week!

Scrumptious Cupcakes Card with Tina

Hello crafty friends, Tina here and today I am featuring the sweet and delicious Scrumptious Cupcakes stamp and die set. With this set you can create several shapes of yummy cupcakes and because these are layering stamps, you get very realistic results!

Sunny Studio Stamps: Scrumptious Cupcakes Birthday Card by Tina Henkens (featuring Happy Thoughts, Frilly Frame Dies, Slimline Dies)

I placed my cupcakes on a tiered cake stand, which I created by cutting two borders with a scalloped Slimline Basic Border from white Neenah card stock. Next, I cut a simple rectangle shape from the same paper, this will be the base of the stand. For my cupcakes, I went with happy bright colors, I used the plastic sheet that the stamps come on as my guide to help me position the layers.

Since I have such vibrant images, I wanted the background to be subtle and muted. The Subtle Grey Tones paper pad is perfect when you want to add a little interest to your card but not a ton! I cut the card panel with the Frilly Frames Eyelet Lace die and glued it directly to a white card base.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Scrumptious Cupcakes Birthday Card by Tina Henkens (featuring Happy Thoughts, Frilly Frame Dies, Slimline Dies)

The sentiment from Happy Thoughts was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink onto a small white strip. This stamp set lets you create a bunch of custom sentiments, it’s a staple piece in my stash!

To assemble the card, I started by adding the sentiment to the bottom of the panel, then I placed the cake stand and cupcakes to figure out the best lay-out. I fiddled a bit with the height of the tiers and once I was happy with the design, I could adhere all the elements. Every cupcakes needs some sprinkles, so I added a few Pastel Mix Jewels for that extra bling!

I hope you will have fun too with this Scrumptious Cupcakes stamp and die setThank you for visiting the blog and happy crafting!

Crepe Paper Streamers Card with Cathy

Hey friends! Cathy here today sharing a couple of fun jungle themed birthday cards! The sloth is taking it slow, but the baby elephants are having a wild time!

Sunny Studio Stamps: Crepe Paper Streamer Die Focused Birthday Cards by Cathy Chapdelaine (featuring Silly Sloths, Summer Greenery Dies)

My first card is a mini slimline card (6 1/4" x 6 1/2", scored at 3 1/4" on the 6 1/2" side and folded in half) and I began with a 3” x 6” white cardstock panel lightly inked with Twisted Citron Distress ink at the top and bottom and Dried Marigold/Scattered Straw Distress inks in the center.

Next, I stamped the sentiments on the right side in brown ink using stamps from the Birthday Cat Stamps and the Panda Party Stamps. The “Wishing You A” sentiment is 3” from the top edge of the panel and the “Birthday” sentiment is 1” below it.

I die-cut 7 monstera leaves using the Summer Greenery Dies from white cardstock and inked them with Speckled Egg and Rustic Wilderness Distress inks. I also die-cut a palm frond using the same dies from kraft cardstock. I then adhered these to the top and bottom of the panel.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Crepe Paper Streamer Die Focused Birthday Cards by Cathy Chapdelaine (featuring Silly Sloths, Summer Greenery Dies)

Next, I die-cut 7 streamers using the Crepe Paper Streamer Dies from white cardstock and inked them with Twisted Citron, Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade and Squeezed Lemonade Distress inks. I adhered them across the panel and trimmed the excess from the edges.

To finish, I stamped the sloth from the Silly Sloths Stamps and a birthday hat from the Panda Party Stamps in Rich Cocoa Memento ink on Neenah Classic Crest 80lb solar white cardstock, colored them with Copics and fussy cut them out. I die-cut the “LAZY” sentiment from white cardstock and brown cardstock using the Chloe Alphabet Dies and inked the white letters with Kitsch Flamingo and Dried Marigold Distress inks. I layered them over the brown letters to make the sentiment stand out a bit more. For an extra tropical touch, I die-cut 2 hibiscus flowers from pink and yellow cardstock using the current free-with-purchase mini die and adhered them over the leaves.

My second card is an A2 size card and I used the same color scheme on this one by softly inking a 4 1/4” x 5 1/2" piece of white cardstock with Twisted Citron, Scattered Straw and Dried Marigold Distress inks. I die-cut the cardstock piece using the largest Stitched Rectangles Die.

Next, I stamped the “birthday wishes” sentiment from the Happy Thoughts Stamps in brown ink in the center of the cardstock piece and 1 3/4" from the top edge. I die-cut 2 palm fronds using the Summer Greenery Dies from kraft cardstock and adhered them in the bottom corners, trimming the excess from the edges. I then inked a 2” x 5 1/2" piece of white cardstock with Twisted Citron Distress ink and die-cut it with the largest Stitched Rectangle Die. I die-cut the piece across the middle using the grass die from the Picket Fence Border Die. This left me with 2 thin grass portions that I overlapped and adhered to the bottom of the background piece.

I die-cut 8 monstera leaves from white cardstock using the Summer Greenery Dies and inked them with Speckled Egg and Rustic Wilderness Distress inks. I then adhered them to the top corners and trimmed the excess along the left and right edges. I left a little bit of the leaves overlapping the top edge. I die-cut 5 streamers and some small streamer pieces using the
Crepe Paper Streamer Dies from white cardstock and inked them with Squeezed Lemonade, Dried Marigold, Spun Sugar, Saltwater Taffy and Kitsch Flamingo Distress inks. I adhered them across the top of the leaves and trimmed the excess from the edges.

I used the same steps as in the sloth card for the “HUGE” sentiment, but I used Dried Marigold and Spiced Marmalade Distress inks.

To finish, I stamped the elephants from the Baby Elephants Stamps, a cupcake/party favor from the Birthday Cat Stamps and a hat/party favor from the Panda Party Stamps in Rich Cocoa Memento ink on Neenah Classic Crest 80lb solar white cardstock, colored them with Copics and fussy cut them out.

Grad Cat Card with Tina

Hello crafty friends, it’s Tina with a colorful graduation card for you today! It’s that time of the year when we all need such a congratulations card. Mine is for my niece who will receive her bachelor’s degree in bioengineering sciences. I am sure she will love this sweet cat with the hat and diploma!

Sunny Studio Stamps: Grad Cat Graduation Card by Tina Henkens (featuring Woo Hoo, Happy Thoughts, Scalloped Oval Mat Dies, Crepe Paper Streamer Dies)

My white card panel is dry embossed with the Sunburst Embossing Folder. I really love the extra texture this gives to a simple base. To highlight my scene I die cut the largest oval from the Scalloped Oval Mat 1 set and turned it into a frame with a smaller oval die from an infinity set. The sweet pink paper is from the Gingham Pastels pack.

Next, I stamped and die cut all my images for this card using the Cat Grad and Woo Hoo sets. These products work so well together! I colored everything with my Copic markers.

As an extra festive detail I also die cut three Crepe Paper Streamers and used the same markers to make them match the color scheme. I added some golden and white details with gel pens from my stash.

As a sentiment, I combined the ‘happy graduation’ from Happy Thoughts which is a very versatile set to have at hand for lots of occasions.

I glued my embossed panel to a card base and started layering all the images, creating a pile of books for the sweet cat to sit on. I tucked the diploma under the tail and added the streamers to the background. Lastly, I adhered the sentiment and some Gold Jewels.

I hope you got inspired to make some fun grad cards with this cute Grad Cat! Thank you for joining me and happy crafting!

Guest Designer Spotlight: Cards with Leanne West

Hello and happy September! Leanne here with you today. We are just a few weeks away from the official start of fall and I can't wait! In the mean time, I enjoyed creating a couple of fall cards in anticipation of sweater weather and pumpkin spice lattes.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Pumpkin Patch Dies and Autumn Tree Dies Focused Fall Themed Cards by Leanne West

I've used two new standalone die sets to help build my scenes - Pumpkin Patch and Autumn Tree. I just love a card with lots of layers and texture. These new die sets made it so easy to achieve that.

Both of my cards started out with the same ink blended background which is a combination of Tattered Rose and Saltwater Taffy Distress Oxide Inks. I then added a khaki green die cut grassy hill to each.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Pumpkin Patch Dies and Autumn Tree Dies Focused Fall Themed Cards by Leanne West

To make the pumpkins and Jack-o-lanterns, I die cut the pieces from light orange card stock. For shading on each piece, I used Carved Pumping, Vintage Photo, and Peeled Paint Oxide Ink. The shading is important because I feel this really gives the pumpkins more dimension when the pieces are all layered together. For the Jack-o-lanterns, I die cut the faces into the top pumpkin layer and backed it with black card stock. The face pieces are tiny and I felt this was the easiest way to assemble them.

After I had the pumpkins and tree placed into the scene, I used lots of leaves for embellishment. I die cut the leaves from white card stock. I used a small blending brush with Shabby Shutters, Carved Pumpkin, Vintage Photo, and Peeled Paint Oxide Inks to color them. I scattered the leaves on the tree and pumpkins and even some in the air on the Happy Fall card. The little dashed lines have been stamped. These stamps come from the Backyard Bugs set. They are meant for bug trails but work just as well for blowing leaves.

For the Halloween card I added the stamped sentiment and tiny spider. These are from a new set called Too Cute To Spook. I hand drew the line the spider is hanging from. For the fall card, I added a part stamped, part die cut greeting. Happy Thoughts and the Chloe Alphabet were the sets I used. Finally to complete my cards, I added some frames. I wanted these frames to be fairly thin so they wouldn't cover up too much of the scenes. I used two different Frilly Frames dies - Chevron & Stripes. With a craft knife and straight edge, I was able to thin the sides of each frame.

I hope my cards have inspired you to get started on your fall projects. Thanks for stopping by!
