Hey friends! Cathy here
today sharing a couple of fun jungle themed birthday cards! The sloth is taking
it slow, but the baby elephants are having a wild time!
My first card is a mini slimline card (6 1/4" x 6
1/2", scored at 3 1/4" on the 6 1/2" side and folded in half)
and I began with a 3” x 6” white cardstock panel lightly inked with Twisted
Citron Distress ink at the top and bottom and Dried Marigold/Scattered Straw
Distress inks in the center.
Next, I stamped the sentiments on the right side in brown ink
using stamps from the Birthday
Cat Stamps and the Panda
Party Stamps. The “Wishing You A” sentiment is 3” from the top edge
of the panel and the “Birthday” sentiment is 1” below it.
I die-cut 7 monstera leaves using the Summer
Greenery Dies from white cardstock and inked them with Speckled
Egg and Rustic Wilderness Distress inks. I also die-cut a palm frond using the
same dies from kraft cardstock. I then adhered these to the top and bottom of
the panel.
Next, I die-cut 7 streamers using the Crepe
Paper Streamer Dies from white cardstock and inked them with
Twisted Citron, Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade and Squeezed Lemonade
Distress inks. I adhered them across the panel and trimmed the excess from the
edges.
To finish, I stamped the sloth from the Silly
Sloths Stamps and a birthday hat from the Panda Party Stamps in
Rich Cocoa Memento ink on Neenah Classic Crest 80lb solar white cardstock,
colored them with Copics and fussy cut them out. I die-cut the “LAZY” sentiment
from white cardstock and brown cardstock using the Chloe
Alphabet Dies and inked the white letters with Kitsch Flamingo
and Dried Marigold Distress inks. I layered them over the brown letters to make
the sentiment stand out a bit more. For an extra tropical touch, I die-cut 2
hibiscus flowers from pink and yellow cardstock using the current
free-with-purchase mini die and adhered them over the leaves.
My second card is an A2 size card and I used the same color
scheme on this one by softly inking a 4 1/4” x 5 1/2" piece of white cardstock
with Twisted Citron, Scattered Straw and Dried Marigold Distress inks. I
die-cut the cardstock piece using the largest Stitched
Rectangles Die. Next, I stamped the “birthday wishes” sentiment from the Happy
Thoughts Stamps in brown ink in the center of the cardstock
piece and 1 3/4" from the top edge. I die-cut 2 palm fronds using the Summer
Greenery Dies from kraft cardstock and adhered them in the
bottom corners, trimming the excess from the edges. I then inked a 2” x 5
1/2" piece of white cardstock with Twisted Citron Distress ink and die-cut
it with the largest Stitched Rectangle Die. I die-cut the piece across the
middle using the grass die from the Picket
Fence Border Die. This left me with 2 thin grass portions that I overlapped
and adhered to the bottom of the background piece.
I die-cut 8 monstera leaves from white cardstock using the
Summer Greenery Dies and inked them with Speckled Egg and Rustic Wilderness
Distress inks. I then adhered them to the top corners and trimmed the excess
along the left and right edges. I left a little bit of the leaves overlapping the
top edge. I die-cut 5 streamers and some small streamer pieces using the Crepe
Paper Streamer Dies from white cardstock and inked them with
Squeezed Lemonade, Dried Marigold, Spun Sugar, Saltwater Taffy and Kitsch
Flamingo Distress inks. I adhered them across the top of the leaves and trimmed
the excess from the edges.I used the same steps as in the sloth card for the “HUGE”
sentiment, but I used Dried Marigold and Spiced Marmalade Distress inks.
To finish, I stamped the elephants from the Baby
Elephants Stamps, a cupcake/party favor from the Birthday
Cat Stamps and a hat/party favor from the Panda
Party Stamps in Rich Cocoa Memento ink on Neenah Classic Crest
80lb solar white cardstock, colored them with Copics and fussy cut them out.
