Guest Designer Spotlight: Cards with Debbie Olson

Good morning! Debbie Olson here, privileged to be a guest of Sunny Studio today! When Mendi shared the Sunny Studio new release, I knew that I’d love playing with it; so today I have cards using the Breakfast Puns and Tiny Dancers stamp sets to share.

First up is Breakfast Puns - and there are SO many fun possibilities in this stamp set! I read all of the sentiments and still couldn’t decide upon just one or two, so I chose several of them, keeping the images relating to the sentiment in the center of my card. I stamped the images in Memento Rich Cocoa ink, colored them with Copic markers, cut them out with their coordinating dies, and airbrushed a hint of BG53 in the background to make the images stand out more. I stamped my chosen sentiment combination, and then used foam tape to pop up the images. The background is really simple—more images from Breakfast Puns stamped close together in a kraft colored ink to create a subtle background.

Shown below are the Copic markers that I used to color the Breakfast Puns images.

Next I have a Tiny Dancers card to share. Do you have children or grandchildren who are aspiring ballerinas?  Then you might need this one—it’s is a darling stamp set!  I made a smaller card for this one, 3-1/2” x 5” so that my focal ballerina would still be fairly large on the card base.

Here is the inside of my card. As you can see, the focal image is actually on the inside of this card rather than the outside. I masked off the same size circle that I had die-cut on the front and airbrushed a simple background with my Copic markers. The Tiny Dancer is popped up on foam tape so that she sticks up a bit through the window.

Shown below are the Copic markers that I used to color the Tiny Dancers image. I kept her hair smooth rather than textured just because she is pretty small. I used a glue pen to add some glitter to the tutu, lightening it and giving it some texture.

Honestly, the only challenging part was gluing on those sequins—not one of my wiser choices in life, but I did like them after I finished! (Be smart—use a frame die instead.)

Breakfast Puns Origami Fold Love Themed Card with Lexa

Hello there! Lexa here today with a love card that has a lot of puns, inside and out. I used the brand new Breakfast Puns stamps and the coordinating dies. This stamp set will be loved by everyone, as puns are so much fun and the images are super cute!

I used tone on tone for the background, stamping the images with walnut dye ink on kraft paper. When you can't decide which one you will use for the projects, just use them all! Just like I did for this one. This is also my first time to try the origami fold to create a pop up card. Surprisingly it was super easy and simple, you can find the tutorial on YouTube. Everyone can do it.

I used different colors for each panels by blending some Distress Inks in Worn Lipstick, Seedless Mustard, Tumbled Glass, Shaded Lilac. It turned out super cute and colorful, and I just love it. All the images are stamped with Versafine black ink and watercolored with Distress markers. I matched the images with the puns sentiments. What a fun love card with so many puns sentiments in it.

Purrfect Birthday Watercolor Happy Birthday Card with Vanessa

Hi everybody! Vanessa here with a happy watercolor Purrfect Birthday card. I just can't get enough of the adorable cats, they are the cutest!

I first created my background by picking up wet watercolor with foil and tabbing/smudging it onto the paper until I was satisfied with the result. After the colors were dried, I adhered the panel to my card. Now I stamped all the images onto white cardstock, colored them with Copics and die-cut everything with the matching dies.

Then I adhered the images to the card and drew the strings of the balloons. I stamped the sentiment from Tiny Dancers onto a strip of cardstock, adhered it with foam tape and finished the card off with sequins.

Ric Rac Border Dies Love Themed Card with Franci

Hi there, and Happy Valentine's Day! Franci here with you today, to celebrate, love! Here's what I created.

"A Toast to the Happy Couple"! Haha! I combined lots of my faves from the new release to create this love themed card that's perfect for your loved one! 

First I stamped, colored, and die cut all my images from the Breakfast Puns and Team Player stamp sets. Then I created my card base and die cut 2 coordinated strips out of some white cardstock with the new Ric Rac Borders dies.

I colored the background by sponging some Distress inks, and then glued down all those cute stamped images. I stamped the sentiment and add some Wink of Stella here and there.

Being a couple means being a little team, so be sure to make your favorite one a little card and celebrate!

Born To Sparkle Pink and Apricot Ballerina Card with Nancy

Hey there Sunny fans, Nancy here today with a look at the Born To Sparkle stamp and die set. I've added a bit of whimsy with a ballerina from the Tiny Dancers stamp set as well.

To create this card, start with the background! Use the dot stamps from the Born To Sparkle stamp set and bubblegum pink and apricot inks to create a colorful card base. Next, use the Fancy Frames Circles dies to create a frame for the little ballerina. The inside of the circle was created with a wash of hot pink watercolor and some ink blending right on top for a very vibrate background. The ballerina was watercolored with Distress inks and placed in the center on foam tape. 

The Sparkle Word die was used to cut the title out from a background that had been ink blended with bubblegum and apricot inks. A smaller sentiment from the Born To Sparkle stamp set ("with all your heart") was stamped in black ink just underneath the die cut title. A sprinkle of sequins was added for some movement.

A beautiful background and a colorful, die-cut sentiment are a great way to finish off a card. Use the Born To Sparkle stamp and Sparkle Word die to add some artistic flair to your next card!

Birthday Balloon Framed Background Birthday Card with Eloise

Hi everyone, Eloise here and today I'll be making a Birthday card using the Birthday Balloon stamp set along with the Fancy Frames Squares die set. It's a super simple card that can be easily recreated with different colour schemes.

To begin, I first went ahead and stamped out my balloons from the Birthday Balloon set with pink, orange and yellow inks. This is such a fun layering set and really makes the balloons look super realistic. Once they were stamped, I die cut them out using the coordinating dies. Next, I used another piece of white cardstock and cut out the largest Fancy Frames Square die out of it. I set them off to the side and moved onto my card base. I used some Tumbled Glass and Peacock Feathers Distress Ink to ink blend on the right hand side of the panel just to give the simple base a little extra. Then, I flicked a little water over top and dried it with a heat tool.I then adhered it down onto a white card base using foam tape for the outer square and flat adhesive for the inner square. Then I trimmed off the excess around the card base. 

Now that the frame was adhered to my base, I stamped the strings and bows onto the card base directly with black ink and then adhered the balloons with foam tape on the strings. For my sentiment, I cut two sizes of strips of gold and green cardstock, cut the ends at an angle and then stamped 'Hooray!' from Team Player onto the green strip. I then added foam tape to both, layered them up and adhered them onto my card base. To finish it up I tied some green twine around the sentiment to make it more grounded. 

That finished up my basic Birthday card for today, a super easy design to reproduce for all your Birthday card needs. Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll catch you all next time.
