Guest Designer Spotlight: Cards with Amy Kolling

Hello! Amy Kolling here and am very excited to be a guest on the Sunny Studios blog today. I have two cards to share that really focus on the spring season … my favorite! 

Hibiscus is one of my favorite flowers … they are so gorgeous. The Hawaiian Hibiscus stamps are so incredible detailed with all the layers! One little detail these stamps have is that they are numbered so you know exactly which layer is next to stamp!

I stamped my hibiscus in shades of orange, yellow, and coraly reds. Using the coordinating dies, they were each die cut along with the leaves. I wanted the hibiscus to be the focus on my card so I kept the rest bright white by layering them on a white Frilly Frames Striped Dies. A simple die cut Hello in bold black cardstock was adhered along with a few white gems. 

Rainbows seem to be everywhere and they certainly bring happiness and sunshine, right? I love the sentiments and elements from Sunny Sentiments. I created my own rainbow using ¼’ strips of colored cardstock. Each strip was added to a scrap piece of white cardstock to adhere easily. My rainbow measures 1 ½’ wide. I added the rainbow to the center and went to work on the other elements.

The stitched cloud stamps are adorable along with the sun that was stamped with a smiley face. The cloud was the perfect place to add part of my sentiment in black ink. For the rest of my sentiment, it was stamped at the bottom of a strip of green cardstock that was die cut with the grass border die from Sunny Sentiments Dies. A few bees were added with foam adhesive along with my clouds and cute sun which was embellished with some crystal Stickles.

Silly Sloths Cards with Rachel and Lexa

Hello and Happy Friday everyone! It's Rachel here today to share with you a card using the adorable Silly Sloths Stamp Set.

These sloths are just the cutest! I created a slim line card measuring 8.5" tall by 3.5" wide so that I could fit as many of the sloths as possible. This sized card fits perfectly into a #8 sized envelope but will also fit easily into the standard US Business Envelope.

To start, I first created my background by blending some Distress Oxide Inks (Antique Linen, Twisted Citron, and Mowed Lawn) onto a sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I then loosely splattered this ink blending with water and allowed it to stand for a minute before gently blotting it dry with a paper towel.

I then splattered this panel with diluted Opaque White Paint and Black and Green Watercolor Paints. My images were all stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto another sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock, colored with Copic Sketch Markers and diecut with the coordinating Silly Sloths Dies. I also added one more branch from the A Bird's Life Stamp Set for the sleeping sloth to lie on.

Hi everyone! Lexa here with a card starring Silly Sloth Stamps and the coordinating die. I tried to make a split card, which is simple but super adorable and lots of fun. Let's get started!

I stamped all the images with Versafine black ink and watercolor them with Distress Markers. After I finished I cut them with the coordinating dies. I use green leaves patterned paper from Summer Splash Paper and plain green cardstock using stitched scallop dies for the trees illusion. Here's the closer look.

It's a split card window on the front. So you basically can see through the inside part of the card from outside. The trick is to attached the upper and bottom part using the images you will use. 

Any border dies will do the trick. Or you can use simpler thing like straight lines on both sides. I will give you more pictures so you can get the idea.

I also stamped some hibiscus flowers and leaves inside. And as if four sloths in front of the card aren't enough, I'll add two more. Just because they are so cute and it gives you an element of surprise.

Sweater Vest Die Cards with Anja and Vanessa

Hello again, Anja here and today I'm sharing a summer project using the Sweater Vest Dies. Of course these dies are perfect for fall and winter or the upcoming Father's Day, but I transformed it into a summer top. Do you know these fun Hawaii shirts with colorful floral prints? I tried to create something similar in stamping a pattern with the beautiful Hawaiian Hibiscus Stamps.

I did a lot of masking and stamping for this floral pattern. First, I cut some masks out of full sticky notes using the coordinating hibiscus flower die. I adhered them to a piece of white cardstock and did some ink blending with Distress Oxide Inks (Blueprint Sketch, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean) over it. It's always amazing when you peel off the masks and the crisp edges are revealed.

Next, I stamped all the layers of the hibiscus flowers (you can find the used ink colors below). I die cut the trimmings from yellow cardstock and gold heat embossed the sentiment.

Hello everyone! Vanessa here with a simple Father's Day card using the Sweater Vest dies. According to my husband, male card recipients prefer very simple cards. The simpler the better. I had this in mind while creating this.

I die-cut my card/the vest from black cardstock and the collar from white cardstock. After I had assembled the pieces, I die-cut the ribbed V one more time and trimmed off a short strip to create a pocket for the breast pocket handkerchief that I had trimmed from another collar piece. Now I stamped and heat-embossed the sentiment from Puppy Parents onto a strip of red cardstock, notched one end and adhered it.

Wrap Around Box Projects with Mona and Franci

Hi crafty friends! It's Mona here, today I am showing you a clear box filled with yummy jelly beans. For this project I used the new Wrap Around Box die.

I started the card making with die-cutting. I run the largest die from the Wrap Around Box set through my die-cut machine and made four pieces of acetate die-cuts and adhered them together with double sided adhesive.

Next, I made four circles from the Surprise Party patterned paper and four parts from white cardstock to the top and styled my box. I also made sweet and cute tiny tags with the die-set.

In the end I stamped and colored sweet figures from the Coastal Cuties stamp set and my candy box was ready.

Hello there and happy Wednesday! Franci here with you today showcasing the new Wrap Around Box. I'm totally in love with this new die, the box fits quite a lot inside and the mechanism at the top to close/ open it makes it so original!

To assemble the box you have to die cut the main piece 4 times and I went for a lilac cardstock. You can die cut it from pattern paper or create your own decorated paper and then die cut the box out of it :)

I glued everything together and then I die cut the stitched rectangle little panel included in the set 3 times (2 out of white cardstock and 1 out of some light brown cardstock).

I stamped all the images from the new Fabulous Flamingos set, colored them with my Copics and die cut them with their coordinated dies. Then I die cut out all the elements I needed to set my scene using the Catch a Wave dies for the ocean and the Woodland Borders dies for my sandy hill; I colored them with Distress inks and I glued them down.

Finally I adhered all the images with a combo of liquid glue and foam adhesive, I die cut the little banner, stamped my sentiment and added some more tropical leaves at the top. A little silver twine bow to finish my tag and this little tropical gift box is ready!
