Hello and welcome to the last day of our Sneak Peek Week! All this week I have been showcasing cards using our new collection for Summer available for purchase today (make sure to stick around until the end for a special set of shopping codes). :)
Today is all about our Wrap Around Gift Box die and a second new 6x6 Paper pack called Surprise Party. I have loved playing with everything, but I like to think I saved the best for last...
Gift Box 1: For my first box of the day, I have a box combining our Fabulous Flamingo Stamps, together with the pink hibiscus and striped prints from our new Summer Splash 6x6 Paper Pack.
I actually decorated this box using pieces I had leftover from making cards and I only happened to have one flamingo left so I decorated the other three sides with the palm trees from our Seasonal Trees and Sending Sunshine stamps.
And here's a look at the cool petal closure when looking at the box from overhead. The die set comes with individual stitched dies that make decorating the tops and sides a breeze. I love how they also allow me to decorate my box using 6x6 papers, rather than needing something larger!
Gift Box 2: Up next is a simple box cut from white cardstock and decorated with the polka-dots and striped patterns found in our Spring Sunburst 6x6 Paper pack.
I dressed up my box with four strands of solid twine, tied in a bow on top and used with one of the two cute little gift tags that come with this box. These tags are smaller versions of our Build-A-Tag #1 dies with mix and match tops and hole reinforcers. They measure 1" wide x 1-3/4" high.
Gift Box 3: For my next box I used our new Surprise Party 6x6 Paper pack. I sadly didn't have enough time to use this as much a I would have liked. This set comes with sooo many fun and happy prints that just beg to be used on some birthday cards. I love that some of the patterns are a perfect compliment to our Perfect Popsicles and Birthday Balloons stamps. I must find some time to play more with them soon!
For this box I cut 4 stitched circles using the largest circle from our Staggered Circles Die to frame my pups. I then colored my birthday dogs using images from our Party Pups stamps. I think these would be the perfect size for birthday party favors. Sized at 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" square x 3-1/4" high, these can hold quite a bit of candy and treats.
Gift Box 4: I thought for my next box I would create a gift perfect for giving coaches or team players as the school year comes to a close. I think it would also make a great Father's Day gift for the sport's lover in your life.
To decorate my box I cut the cloud print from our new Summer Splash 6x6 Paper pack, and then alternated striped prints from our Silly Stripes Paper pack for my grass borders (cut with our Sunny Sentiments Dies). For my various balls, I colored images from our Team Player stamps, pairing it with a sentiment from our Puppy Parents stamps.
Gift Box 5: For this gift box, I used the sprinkles print from our new Surprise Party Paper pack and cut borders from the party hat paper.
To carry out my party hat them, I die-cut stitched circles using the extra dies from the set and stamped them with hats from our Froggy Friends stamps. Just another way you can decorate the flaps...
Gift Box 6: For my last box of the day I'm re-sharing the Best Fishes gift box I shared on Monday...
And a new view of the box from overhead...
Sadly the video tutorial I created yesterday afternoon was accidentally deleted off my phone and after spending a couple wasted hours researching how to recover it with still no video to show for my effort, I wiped my tears and reached out to design team member Eloise who also had a video in progress and came to my rescue! She has created a fabulous video showing the new release along with a tutorial on the box which you can view in HD on her YouTube Channel HERE.
This box is super easy to assemble and was designed in such a way that if you're careful you can cut all four sides from a single sheet of 8-1/2" x 11" cardstock. To do this I start by trimming my paper to 8-1/2" wide x 7" long, setting aside the piece 8.5" x 4" piece I cut off. I then divide my cardstock into three equal pieces, which means they are each just a hair narrower than 2-7/8" wide x 7" long. If we're being technical, I line my paper up at the 2-13/16" mark and then scoot my paper just over the tick mark so it's not visible and that seems to be the magic spot for trimming.
This paper saving method means the die will just barely fit on your paper so I use micropore tape to hold my die in place when running it through my machine. If you're paper is a wee too narrow, the flaps that you tape together can tolerate going off the edge a bit. Just make sure the box portion is fully going to cut through the cardstock. I then use the extra piece I cut off to die-cut my fourth side of the box.
To assemble the box, all the folds get folded away from you (with wrong sides together), except for the diagonal fold which will be folded towards you (with right sides together). I like to use a bone folder to create nice sharp creases which help the joints of the box move smoothly when opening and closing.
I then just add some 1/4" scor-tape to each flap and adhere the 4 pieces together, lining them up at the creases. If you want to make the box extra sturdy to hold a heavy item, I have found adding a little extra adhesive between the bottom flaps can create a very strong box. The finished gift box measures 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" square x 3-1/4" high. :)
