Guest Designer Spotlight: Cards with Rachel Alvarado

Hello crafty friends! It's Rachel here and I have a few winter projects to share with you today that feature items from the latest Sunny Studio Stamps Release.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Dashing Dachshund Winter Themed Card by Rachel Alvarado

The first project that I want to share with you features the adorable pup from the Dashing Dachshund stamp set. I created a one-layer slimline card (measuring at 6.5" x 3.5") by using some masking paper to mask my images while I stamped. I made sure to stamp and mask the hats, sweaters, and antlers prior to stamping the dogs so that it looked like they were actually wearing their outfits. For my background sky, I used a blend of Salvaged Patina and Peacock Feathers Distress Ink.

I colored my images with Copic Markers and then added some snowy white accents with both some diluted opaque white paint as well as a size 10 white gel pen to add snow on top of the dogs.

Copic Colors Used:

  • Reds: R14, R46, R89
  • Browns: E41, E43, E44, E47
  • White: 0, C00, C1, C3

My second project is a set of mini cards using the
Snowman Kisses Stamp Set and their coordinating dies. I stamped my images onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored them with Copic Markers. For my scalloped background, I die cut some pieces of white card stock using the Mini Mat & Tag 2 Dies. I layered each panel with a 3 9/16" x 2 5/16" piece of blue card stock and heat embossed some snowflakes onto them using some Fine Detail White Embossing Powder. I used the Snow Flurries Stamp Set to stamp mine (this set is retiring) but you can easily use the snowflakes that come with the Snowman Kisses Stamp Set if you like!

I also added some stitched snow drifts using the long stitched slope dies from the
Slimline Nature Borders Die Set. I added all of my snowmen to the cards using some 3D Foam Adhesive Tape for a pop of dimension.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Penguin Party Winter Themed Tags by Rachel Alvarado (featuring Mini Mat & Tag Dies)

Lastly, I created a trio of simple gift tags using the
Penguin Party Stamp Set, coordinating dies, and Mini Mat & Tag 2 Dies. I layered each tag with some pieces of red card stock and then stamped my sentiment from the Victorian Christmas Stamp Set. I love this sentiment because it fits perfectly and the script is gorgeous!

In order to get the red strip at the bottom of my tag, I simply die-cut the tag base from red card stock and then used my paper trimmer to trim off the edge so that I could add it to my white tag base. I once again used Copic Markers to color my images and adhered them with foam adhesive tape for added dimension.

Copic Colors Used:

  • Reds: R14, R46, R89
  • Black/Penguin: W1, W3, W7, W9
  • Orange: YR68, YR18
  • Green: YG07, YG67
  • White: 0, C00, C1, C3

I hope you enjoyed my projects today! Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by! If you liked these projects and want some more crafty inspiration, please feel free to check out my INSTAGRAM feed! Wishing you all a lovely day!

Playful Polar Bears Winter Themed Holiday Card with Juliana

Merry Christmas, Sunny Studio Friends! It's Juliana Michaels and today I'm here to share a winter themed card featuring the Playful Polar Bears stamp set and Fancy Frames Square dies.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Playful Polar Bears Fancy Frames Snow Flurries Winter Themed Holiday Card by Juliana Michaels

To get started, begin by stamping the cute little polar bears from Playful Polar Bears and color them using Copic markers. Next, die cut them using the coordinating die set. Create the frame by die cutting a piece of silver paper using the largest Fancy Frames Square die. Cut a piece of Bristol paper to just slightly smaller than the outside edge of the frame. This will be used as the background for the scene.

Take the Bristol paper and stamp the Snow Flurries stamp set with Versamark embossing ink onto it. Sprinkle the stamped image with white embossing powder and heat set it. Repeat this as you ink the entire background. Next, ink blend Distress Oxide ink in Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch onto the paper with a foam applicator. After the ink blending is completed, sprinkle the piece with water using a small paint brush. Dab the water with a paper towel to remove some of the ink and add to the snowy effect.

Complete the background by die cutting a piece of white cardstock using one of the stitched hillside borders from the Woodland Borders die. Add this to the bottom of the snow flake background, trim to size and then adhere the silver frame on top of this piece. Stamp the sentiment using the Alpaca Holiday stamp set. You are then ready to add your polar bears to the snowy scene.

If you didn't notice, the dies for the polar bears cut out their hands so they can hold something. There are several cute images in the stamp set however, for this card use the snowflake die from the Warm & Cozy dies. Cut out some snowflakes from silver paper and place this inside the polar bears hands.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed this project and that you and your family have a wonderful holiday season!

Polar Playmates & Playful Polar Bear Winter Birthday Card with Nancy

Hey there Sunny fans, Nancy here with a look at a mix of wintery friends from the Polar Playmates and Playful Polar Bear stamp sets. I've mixed them up to create this birthday greeting for one of my January babies. This card is almost monochromatic with shades of blue and a just a hint of green. The color scheme ties the scene together and gives it a nice cool feel.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Polar Playmates & Playful Polar Bear Winter Birthday Card by Nancy Damiano

To create this card, begin with a strip of medium blue and darker blue adhered to the bottom of the card. A circle die cut of aqua cardstock was stamped with the Snow Flurries stamp to give it some movement and tie it into the theme.

All of the whimsical images were watercolored with Zig Clean Color makers for a bright punch of color. They were adhered with pop dots for some added dimension. A few dew drops and the sentiment stamped in black and blue inks complete this card.

Making monochromatic card is a fun and easy way to combine multiple stamp sets. Check out our winter releases including Polar Playmates and Playful Polar Bears to create a scene of your own!

Snow Flurries Little Husky Christmas Tree Ornament with Franci

Hi everyone and happy Wednesday! It's Franci here with you today with a pretty Christmas ornament to decorate your tree! I had so much fun with the new Snow Flurries stamp set, and that little husky from the Polar Playmates is just perfect!

Sunny Studio Stamps: Snow Flurries Little Husky Christmas Tree Ornament by Franci Vignoli

First, I die cut a circle to fit inside my plastic ornament. Then I embossed the snow flurries with white embossing powder and sponged some Picked Raspberry distress ink on top. Next, I stamped my little husky with memento ink, colored it with Copics and die cut it with its coordinating diesI glued it in the center of my circle with foam tape and drew some details with a white gel pen.

Then I created the snowball with some fake snow and added some candies behind the decorated circle in the other half of the ball. To secure your decorated circle just glue a little string behind it (it will be closed in the middle between the 2 halves of the ball, or you can also glue it down to the first half). I added some twine and a cute bow and you can also write a little secret message and put it inside!

Hope you like my project and thank you so so much for stopping by!

Snow & Frosty Flurries Winter Background Christmas Card with Lexa

Hi everyone! Lexa here today with a Christmas card inspiration highlighting the brand new background stamps from Sunny Studio, Frosty Flurries and Snow Flurries. And for this card, I'll be combine those two to create my background.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Snow & Frosty Flurries Winter Background Christmas Card by Lexa Levana

First of all, I embossed the sentiment from Festive Greetings Stamp with silver embossing powder and heat gun. Then I embossed both Frosty Flurries and Snow Flurries, I don't even mind if they are overlapping each other. Then I blended Peacock Feather and Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink over the card. The coolest thing about this technique is when you blend those inks on the paper, the embossed stamps will resist. The glossy effect is super cool!

Sunny Studio Stamps: Snow & Frosty Flurries Winter Background Christmas Card by Lexa Levana

As for my scene, I use the Christmas Chapel and some ornaments from Christmas Home to complete the whole scene. Isn't that snowman the cutest? I stamped all the images with Versafine black ink and watercolored them with Distress Markers. After I finished with the coloring, I die cut them all with the coordinating dies.

Thank you so much for visiting today. I hope you all have an amazing day!

Snow Flurries & Frosty Flurries Snowy Background Tags with Eloise

Hi everyone, Eloise here today and I'll be using the Snow Flurries and Frosty Flurries stamp sets to create some simple backgrounds for some tags. As well as the Playful Polar Bears, Tag Topper Crescent Dies, Fishtail Banners Dies and Merry Word Dies

Sunny Studio Stamps: Snow Flurries & Frosty Flurries Polar Bear Snowy Background Tags by Eloise Blue

To begin my tags, I first took some watercolour cardstock, cut them down to 2 3/4" wide and used the Tag Topper Crescent Dies and Fishtail Banners dies to cut the top and bottom of each tag. Once I cut all four tags, I took a hole punch and punched a hole in the top of each tag. I then went ahead and used the Snow Flurries and Frosty Flurries stamp sets to stamp onto each tag. I did two of each design. I then clear heat embossed them.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Snow Flurries & Frosty Flurries Polar Bear Snowy Background Tags by Eloise Blue

Next up, I used Faded Jeans, Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean a Distress Oxide Inks to ink blend on each of the tags. Leaving white at the bottom too resemble snow. Now my tag bases were done, I stamped out four Polar Bears sitting with four objects to hold in their hands. I coloured each with Copic Markers using traditional holiday colours. I then used the coordinating dies to cut the Bears and accessories out. I popped them up on foam tape and adhered them to the center on each tag.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Snow Flurries & Frosty Flurries Polar Bear Snowy Background Tags by Eloise Blue

For my sentiment I used the Merry die and cut four Merry's out of gold foil cardstcok. Then because I felt like they got lost being adhered onto the tag without a backer, I cut strips of black cardstock to adhered behind them and adhered them on with foam tape also. To finish up the tags I threaded through some red and white and brown twine at the top and tied some bows.

That finished up my tags for today. I hope you enjoyed! Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you next time.

Guest Designer Spotlight: Shaker Card Tutorial with Juliana Michaels

We're so excited to welcome Juliana Michaels back to the blog today as our special guest. She is sharing a tutorial that shows how she created this adorable shaker card, and I'm sure you're all going to love it!

Sunny Studio Stamps: Playful Polar Bears Shaker Card Tutorial with Juliana Michaels

Happy Saturday and hello Sunny Studio Fans! It's Juliana with you today and I'm so happy to be guesting again here on the Sunny Studio blog. Today I'm sharing a Playful Polar Bear Christmas shaker card I created using some new stamps and dies from the Winter Release.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Playful Polar Bears Shaker Card Tutorial with Juliana Michaels

To create the snowy background for this card, begin with the Snow Flurries stamp. With the help of a stamp positioning tool, such as the MISTI, stamp the image with Versamark Embossing Ink 3 times across a piece of 4.25 x 5.5 inch white cardstock.  Slide the cardstock over 1.75 inches each time until the image is stamped across the paper. Sprinkle it with white embossing powder and heat set it using a heat gun.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Playful Polar Bears Shaker Card Tutorial with Juliana Michaels

Next, use an ink blending tool to apply Distress Oxide Ink in Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers over the stamped and heat embossed snowflakes. This will help the snowflakes show up and pop against the blue background.

Die cut 5 frames from white cardstock and glue them together to create the shaker box frame. Cut a piece of transparency to the same size and glue it on top of the box.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Playful Polar Bears Shaker Card Tutorial with Juliana Michaels

To add a snowy hill for the polar bear to sled on, die cut one from white cardstock and adhere it on the bottom of the stamped snowflakes background.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Playful Polar Bears Shaker Card Tutorial with Juliana Michaels

Die cut another frame from white cardstock. Then die cut another snowy hill, stamp the sentiment on it from the Festive Greetings stamp set and trim it to fit behind the die cut frame. Adhere these together and then adhere them on top of the shaker box.

Next, die cut and trim 5 more snowy hills to match the one you stamped the sentiment on, adhere them together inside the shaker box frame. By adding these inside the shaker box, it will keep the sequins from falling behind the hill in front. I chose to put the sentiment on the outside because with it being placed at the bottom, the sequins would have covered it up and made it difficult to read. You are now ready to fill the shaker box with your favorite sequins and beads. After you do this, adhere the snowflake background to the back side of the shaker box.

For the final touch stamp, color and die cut the polar bear and sled images from the Playful Polar Bears stamp and coordinating dies. Attach them to the hill on the front of the card and your shaker card is complete!

I hope you enjoyed learning how to create this polar bear Christmas shaker card and are inspired to start your Christmas card crafting using the new Sunny Studio Stamps Winter Release. For more inspiration using the Playful Polar Bears stamp set, head on over to my blog HERE to see another polar bear Christmas card that I created.

HUGS!
